Our Mindfulness & Wellness Programs
Every program at Mindful Life Community is built on peer-reviewed clinical research and facilitated by certified instructors. Whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned practitioner, we offer structured pathways to support your unique wellness journey.
8-Week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
Our MBSR course is the cornerstone of Mindful Life Community's programming and represents the gold standard in secular mindfulness education worldwide. Developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1979, MBSR has accumulated over four decades of peer-reviewed clinical evidence demonstrating its efficacy for stress reduction, anxiety management, chronic pain relief, and overall psychological well-being.
The program unfolds over eight consecutive weekly sessions, each lasting 2.5 hours, plus a full-day (6-hour) silent retreat between weeks six and seven. Participants are also expected to complete approximately 45 minutes of guided home practice six days per week using our curated audio instruction library. This structured approach ensures progressive skill development and deep integration of mindfulness into daily life.
Core Curriculum Components
- Body Scan Meditation: A systematic 45-minute guided practice cultivating non-judgmental awareness of physical sensations from the toes through the crown of the head. Particularly effective for chronic pain management and insomnia.
- Seated Meditation: Training in focused-attention (shamatha) and open-monitoring (vipassana) techniques, progressing from breath-focused concentration to panoramic awareness of thoughts, emotions, and sensory experience.
- Gentle Hatha Yoga: Mindful movement sequences adapted to all ability levels, emphasizing proprioceptive awareness, breath-movement coordination, and compassionate relationship with the body.
- Walking Meditation: Structured slow-walking practice developing kinesthetic mindfulness and translating seated stillness into ambulatory awareness.
- Loving-Kindness (Metta) Meditation: Cultivating unconditional goodwill toward self, loved ones, neutral persons, and all beings as a foundation for emotional resilience and interpersonal compassion.

6-Week Foundation Mindfulness & Meditation Course
Designed as an accessible entry point for individuals new to contemplative practice, our Foundation Course provides a structured introduction to the core meditation techniques that form the basis of all our advanced programming. Over six weekly 90-minute sessions, participants build a sustainable personal practice while developing the conceptual understanding needed to continue their mindfulness journey independently.
The curriculum covers focused-attention meditation using the breath as an anchor object, open-monitoring awareness practices, the RAIN technique (Recognize, Allow, Investigate, Nurture) for working skillfully with difficult emotions, and introductory loving-kindness cultivation. Each session includes guided practice, dyad sharing, instructor-led discussion, and specific home practice assignments. Small cohorts of 8 to 12 participants ensure ample individual guidance. Foundation Course graduates receive priority enrollment and a 10% tuition credit toward any subsequent Mindful Life program.
Tuition: $340 standard rate | Duration: 6 weeks, 90 minutes per session | Schedule: Multiple sections offered quarterly
Therapeutic Yoga & Somatic Awareness Series
Our ten-session therapeutic yoga series is specifically designed for individuals seeking physical restoration, chronic pain management, improved sleep quality, and deeper somatic awareness. Unlike conventional fitness-oriented yoga classes, every element of this program prioritizes interoceptive sensitivity, nervous system regulation, and trauma-informed facilitation.
Sessions are led by instructors holding the Certified Yoga Therapist credential (C-IAYT) through the International Association of Yoga Therapists, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of individualized, clinically-informed instruction. The curriculum integrates restorative yoga postures with extended holds (3 to 7 minutes), yoga nidra guided relaxation, diaphragmatic and alternate-nostril breathing (Nadi Shodhana), progressive muscle relaxation (PMR), and body-based mindfulness rooted in somatic experiencing principles.
This program is particularly beneficial for individuals managing fibromyalgia, lower back pain, post-surgical recovery, autoimmune conditions, insomnia, and trauma-related somatic symptoms. All postures are offered with multiple modifications and can be practiced from a chair, bolster, or mat. Medical clearance is recommended for participants with acute injuries or recent surgical procedures.
Tuition: $295 standard rate (10 sessions) | Session Length: 75 minutes | Max Enrollment: 10 participants per section
Mindful Communication & Compassion Workshop
This transformative six-week workshop integrates contemplative listening practices with the Nonviolent Communication (NVC) framework developed by Marshall Rosenberg, PhD. Participants learn to identify and express their feelings and needs authentically, listen with empathic presence without judgment or reactivity, and navigate interpersonal conflict with skill and compassion. The curriculum also draws from compassion-focused therapy (CFT) and interpersonal neurobiology research.
Each weekly 2-hour session combines guided loving-kindness and compassion meditation with structured partner exercises, group role-play scenarios, and reflective journaling. The progression moves from self-compassion cultivation through empathic listening to assertive authentic expression and collaborative conflict transformation. Participants leave with a concrete communication toolkit they can apply immediately in personal relationships, professional settings, and community engagement.
Tuition: $310 standard rate | Duration: 6 weeks, 2 hours per session | Ideal For: Couples, caregivers, educators, healthcare professionals, and anyone seeking deeper relational connection
12-Week Advanced Contemplative Practice Intensive
Reserved for practitioners with an established personal meditation practice (minimum six months of regular daily practice or completion of our MBSR or Foundation Course), this intensive program deepens contemplative skills through advanced Vipassana insight techniques, extended loving-kindness and compassion (tonglen) practices, advanced pranayama breathwork sequences, and contemplative inquiry methods drawn from the Zen, Theravada, and Tibetan Buddhist traditions presented in a fully secular, evidence-informed context.
The 12-week cycle includes weekly 2-hour group sessions, two half-day silent practice retreats, monthly individual mentoring sessions with a senior teacher, and a daily home practice commitment of 45 to 60 minutes. Participants explore themes including impermanence and equanimity, the nature of selfing and identity, ethical discernment in daily life, and the integration of contemplative insight into active engagement with the world.
